Copperplate engraving, plate mark 289 x 210 mm, on a watermarked laid sheet 330 x 244 mm (watermark with a ring or circle design with initial A above and N below. Narrow mounting strip to left margin, a faint toning in margins; very good.
§ Designed and engraved by the Italian architect and artist Giovannia Battista Falda (1643-1678) and printed by Giovanni Giacomo de'Rossi (1627-1691), proprietor of the most important printing presses in Rome in the 17th century, which was founded by his father, and continued after his death by his son. These prints were popular with tourists on the Grand Tour who wished to take home accurate images of the sights they had seen. Item #126919
