The verso has the artist's name written in pencil at top edge of the mat, and a piece of kraft colored note paper with the title and artist's name is taped to the piece. The piece is loosely taped to a windowed mat.
§ The Irish calligrapher David McGrail has been a Fellow of the Calligraphy and Lettering Arts Society (CLAS) since 1998 and teaches throughout Europe and the United States. His work has been described as "painterly, contemporary, and deeply influenced by Japanese aesthetic traditions". In this piece a white cat emerges from a dark storm of black, copper, and gold inks, shot through with traces of script. It was exhibited at the Royal Hibernian Academy Annual Exhibition in Ireland in 1994. Item #108089
