Plates depict arms and armor, fortified cities, battle maneuvers and strategies, military musical instruments, arrangement of an army’s lodgings, battleships, etc. Daniel, a Jesuit theologian and librarian, achieved great fame for his “Histoire de France” (1713) and became historian to the King.
