Binding is rubbed, and cracked along paper edges, internally bright with minor foxing; very good copy. Bookplate of A. Welsh in volume two.

§ Title page claims “A New Edition,” dated the same year as the first edition. The last of poet and clergyman George Crabbe’s books published during his lifetime (1754-1832). Twenty-two tales organized around the reunion of two brothers at the hall of the elder after many years of separation. The brothers act as narrators to the poems, which deal with love and marriage between characters drawn from the gentry. OCLC 8703306. Item #105605
