Clean and unmarked throughout. Yellow cloth with red illustrated paper boards. Wear to edges, especially corners of both front and back boards. True first printing with numerous huge color prints some double-page, depicting the adventures of three horses; numerous copies on the web are catalogued as first editions dated 1958 or 1959 but this copy has a printed statement at the front that it was printed in 1954 from the original lithographs. Petrus Johannes Franciscus Maria (Piet) Worm (1909--1996) was a Dutch artist who became an illustrator and writer of children's books, often working with author Bertus Aafjes. Worm was co-editor of the children's magazine De Fontein for which he illustrated the comic Professor Zegellak. Not in Cotsen.
