Original marbled boards backed in calf, gilt-lettered red morocco spine label. Calf backstrip partially deteriorated but holding. First Edition, limited to 300 copies of which this is #38. A fine copy with a magnificent leaf, leaf CI, being a full-page woodcut “Serta etas Mundi”, one of the better leaves in the book. “This fascinating account of the making and the contents of The Nuremberg Chronicle by the founder and curator of the Typographic Library of the American Type Founders Company was the first extended study of the greatest German illustrated incunable.” (Bartfield) (Item Id: 6186)
