Boston: Belknap & Hall, 1792. 8vo. 38 issues of the weekly newspaper, The American Apollo. All 38 issued during 1792. Each copy separate, unbound and uncut. Housed in an elegant brown cloth clamshell box with glass cover and paper label on spine. Very good to fine. 18th century American newspapers. Volume I, Part II, Nos. 1--38. Volume I, Part I (not present here) contained the publications of the Massachusetts Historical Society. After that, it continued as The American Apollo which began publication in 1792. It was published weekly on Fridays, from January 6, 1792 through December 25, 1794. Its politics were of the Federal school, but neither ultra nor violent. Listed in COPAC and OCLC. Very rare as a collection in this condition. OCLC notes: “A post-Revolutionary weekly octavo which presented coverage of both American and foreign current events and the U.S. Congress, as well as shipping news, vital statistics, poetry, and other miscellaneous material.
