Includes the authors Journal and letters from the south of Europe, and a Memoir by the authors father. Bowdler (17461823) was the brother of Thomas Bowdler (17541825), the editor of The Family Shakespeare. John Bowdlers collected works contains a defence of his brothers editorial decisions, as well as a long review of Dugald Stewarts Elements of the Philosophy of the Human Mind. (John Price).
