Jules Vallee Guerin (1866-1946) was best known as a muralist, and his most celebrated works are the murals on the interior walls of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. Renowned for his brilliant and subtle use of color, he was the director of color in the architecture and decorations at the Panama-Pacific Exposition in San Francisco in 1915. Maxfield Parrish (1870-1966) continues to be one of the most popular American artists. J. H. Jansen issued portfolios of color prints by Guerin and Parrish in several formats and combinations of images.
