Original blue cloth gilt, a bright, partly unopened copy with occasional foxing and some scuffing to the lower board. Very good. Formerly belonging to Sir John Leslie, 4th Baronet, with his inscription. First edition of the standard work on the artist, with an original etching, 2nd state of 3, entitled The Willow executed in 1850 for his admission to the Etching Club. A Catalogue of the exhibited works and the etchings of Samuel Palmer at pages -422 served as the only catalogue raisonné until Listers work Samuel Palmer and his Etchings.
