London: Chapman & Hall, 1913. Large 8vo., xviii, 296 pp., 36 b&w facsimiles and a frontisportrait. Original brown buckram with titling in gilt to backstrip, top-edge gilt, bottom-edge uncut, unopened, deckled fore-edge. Some minor foxing and shelf-wear at edges; very good. First edition, “Of this Edition there were printed 750 Copies For England and America. This is No. 38.” Eckel covers the major and minor works, books in which Dickens had a “limited interest,” plays, contributions to newspapers and periodicals, writings ascribed to Dickens, Dickensiana, presentation copies and some miscellaneous works. Eckel cites F. G. Kitton, J. C. Thompson et al for laying the foundational work for his own, and uses contemporary auction records and catalogues in referencing values. Still a relevant and essential bibliography for the modern collector of Dickens. (Item Id: 108512)
