London: Chapman and Hall, Strand, MDCCCXLI (1841). Two volumes in one, large 8vo., iv, [1]-306, [1]-228; vi, [229]-306, [1]-426, with numerous engravings in text and two frontispieces. Contemporary half dark-blue morocco and marbled boards, with gilt-tooled backstrip and red label strip with “Master Humphrey’s Clock” stamped in gilt. Backstrip has been almost seamlessly repaired though the boards retain a fair amount of rubbing and shelf wear, minor foxing to outer margins, otherwise a very good copy. First separate editions of The Old Curiosity Shop and Barnaby Rudge, with the specially issued title pages for each volume by Chapman and Hall. Pagination correlates directly from Master Humphrey’s Clock, as issued. Illustrated by George Cattermole and Hablot K. Browne, with frontispieces by Landells. Lack the publisher’s statement mentioned in Podeschi, A59 and A62. (Item Id: 108382)
