Warmly inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper. First edition. Over 6000 entries and winner of the John H. Jenkins award for Best Work of Bibliography in the US in 1974. Laid in is a typed letter, dated May 13, 1975, signed by Edwin Blum, and addressed to Mr. Phillips as the Chairman of the Sherlock Holmes Society in Encino, California. Mr. Blum confirms a meeting of the society adding, It gives me a rare thrill to think that there exists a group such as your own which cherishes and keeps alive a sense of homage to the past artistry of others. I refer, of course, to Rathbone and Bruce and that great innovator, A. Conan Doyle. Blum was a screenwriter associated with many movies and TV shows, but notably in this context he was the screenwriter for The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes with Rathbone and Bruce. OCLC: 1157527.
