New York: Metropolitan Museum of Art, 1988. Folio, [36]pp., with a 16pp. illustrated pamphlet pasted to the upper cover. Illustrated throughout with tipped-in plates. Original green glossy wrappers, grey wrap-around printed band giving the location and date (At the Metropolitan Museum of Art Thomas J. Watson Library. Fine. Apparently a very rare supplement to an exhibition at the MMA curated by Antoine Coron with Eleanor Garvey. According to his website: “Since founding the Kaldewey Press in rural Poestenkill, NY, in 1985, Gunnar A. Kaldewey has produced exactly seventy-five artist books in limited editions, some of them written and designed by Kaldewey himself. While few small presses have managed to produce such a large body of work, the Kaldewey Press has earned the reputation as one of the world's finest publishers of contemporary artist books.” This exhibition in 1988 must have been one of the very first shows in which his work was featured. Coron is the curator of rare books at the Bibliothèque Nationale (Paris) (Item Id: 106885)
