LArt De Peter, Essay Théori-Physique et Méthodique.
Westphalie: Chez Florent-Q., Tue Pet-en-Guele, au Soufflet, MDCCLI [i. e. Paris, Jean-Baptiste Langlois, 1751].. 12mo, 108 pp. With a full-page engraved frontispiece. Later full calf, gilt edges, a very good copy. First (only?) edition of this very rare satire on farting, complete with the frontispiece. Not in Brunet. Records show the BN, and possibly Yale and Harvard with the only copies. Farting became quite the sensation in the late 19th-century in Paris where a highly skilled farter was the star of his own show: Le Petomane was his title and he was said to be able to fart the Marseillaise or extinguish a candle at several yards, reducing his audience to hysterical laughter.
