Full color pictorial paper boards, the backstrip and joints are chipped and paper cover is worn along the edges of the boards. Gift inscription dated 1894 on the front endpaper. Minor foxing and some finger marks but overall a good copy. First edition. Peter Newell is best know for his books which feature an alteration in format such as The Hole Book and The Slant Book. This title features ingenious illustrations which can be viewed both right side and upside down. The one line verses at the top and bottom of each page present the reader with a riddle that can be solved when they turn the book on its head.
