Small 4to, tp, v-vii, [viii], [1]-72. Stab-sewn, becoming disbound, remnant of lower wrapper present, considerable edgewear not affecting text. A fragile pamphlet, unusual to find untouched by later binders.

§ First edition, a second edition appeared in 1749 printed by W. Johnston. Attributed to Charles Moss, Bishop of St. David’s (1711-1802) but sometimes attributed to his patron and mentor Thomas Sherlock, Bishop of London. Both men were learned scholars of the Old Testament. Moss courted some controversy in his support for the America colonists seeking a bishop for the new territories. ESTC T97644. Item #105933
