Norton, 1953. 4to., xii, 401, [2] pp. Full red morocco, 10 vertical gilt rules on covers, theatrical masks of comedy and tragedy in gilt at center, spine lettered and decorated in gilt, 4 raised bands on backstrip, top edge gilt, matching morocco-tipped, felt-lined slipcase. Light wear to slipcase; else fine. First edition of this book, bound by Charlotte Ullmann in 1953, with her bindstamp signature inside rear cover and her address label on rear pastedown and inside of slipcase. Charlotte Ullmann was the binder at the Pierpont Morgan Library in New York. This volume was exhibited at the Dallas Museum of Fine Arts in March of 1963 in their “Eight by Eight: American Craftsmen” exhibition. A copy of the exhibit catalogue is included with the book.
