London: George Bell & Sons, 1895. 8vo, [i-vii], viii, 184 pp. With 4 chromolithograph plates and 35 mostly humorous black-and-white illustrations. Original brown cloth bearing whimsical and elaborate golf-related designs in gilt (clubs, flags and golf balls). Minimal rubbing at foot and crown of backstrip; one or two little bumps at edges of boards. Occasional light spotting and a few leaves creased. A very good copy of a scarce binding in good condition. First edition of what may be the first trade binding depicting golfing accouterments. The color plates are nostalgic reminders of what a true links course should look like.
