Wild Life in Central Africa.
London: The Field and Queen (Horace Cox), [circa 1913] 8vo, xvi, 284, [4, advertisements] pages with a table; 48 photographic plates. Original green cloth stamped in black and gilt, text recased as it was a little loose, and a few plates carefully re-inserted. A very pleasant copy of a very scarce book in any condition. First edition of this fascinating if rather gruesome catalogue of wild animals shot by the author. The frontispiece of a (dead) one-tusked elephant is used for the cover design. Lyell wrote or co-authored four books on African big game hunting.
