C. Corn. Taciti Opera recognovit, emendavit, Supplementis explevit, Notis, Dissertationibus, illustravit, Gabriel Brotier. Edition Nova et Auctior.
London: G. and W.B. Whittaker, 1823. 4 vols., 8vo, viii, 596; iv, 464; iv, 600; iv, 288, clxxxiii pp. With a folding chart in vol. 4. Old half calf, green morocco labels lettered in gilt, a good set with some light pencil annotations of the period and the early signature of William Spooner (not the renowned Oxford don) dated 1826. A pleasant set of Tacitus, front free endpaper to vol. one removed (perhaps to hide an ownership mark). Spooners signature is in vol. 3. Brotier was a French Jesuit scholar. Dibdin II, p. 426 ()4th ed.) speaks highly of the Brotier editions, of which this is the last.
