Chronologically The Prairie is the fifth and final installment of Cooper's series of frontier adventures, known as the Leatherstocking Tales and features the death of the frontier hero Natty Bumppo. It was first published in 1827, after The Pioneers (1823) and The Last of the Mohicans (1826) and before The Pathfinder (1840) and The Deerslayer (1841). John Steuart Curry (1897-1946) was a major American scene painter and muralist of the 1930s and later artist in residence at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. Item #124815
