Item #124616 Dynamo. Eugene O'Neill.

1929. New York: Horace Liverwright, 1929.

4to, 151 pp. Printed in black and blue. Original mottled blue vellum paper boards, with O'Neill's signature gilt stamped to upper board and gilt-stamped label to backstrip; backstrip sun bleached, label chipped, one page roughly opened, pages clean; a very good copy in the original slipcase, worn with some splits.

§ Limited edition, copy 735 of 775, signed by the author, printed by the Van Rees Press. First limited edition, published in the month following the trade edition, and the same year the play debuted on Broadway. An interesting presentation: the colophon states that "The printing in two colors was done to achieve the author's intention to distinguish, in his dialogue, the spoken words from the actual thoughts of his characters." The play, set in an electrical plant, depicts the agonies of atheism in a modern world. Item #124616
