1941. New York: Random House, 1941.
8vo, (x), 156 pp. Original black cloth, titled in gilt on upper board backstrip; lacking dust-jacket, small ticket of Newbegin's bookstore, San Francisco, on rear paste down. Cloth little dusty but internally a nice clean copy inscribed by Jeffers.
§ First edition, inscribed by Jeffers "To Agnes, Paul, and Karin, with so much pleasure - for me and Winnie! - in this little visit. Cordially, Robinson Jeffers / Tor House, Carmel, September 1942." This book was published as World War 2 was gathering steam and Jeffers's objections to US involvement and his belief in the need for "inhumanism" were becoming more widely known. Those themes run through these poems. A signed limited edition of 100 copies was published the same year. Item #124170
