§ Limited to 50 copies numbered and signed by Whitaker in the book and again on the broadside. This is copy 11. On April 30 2016 Whitaker organized a funeral service for the close to 4000 African Americans murdered by lynching between 1882-1981 and denied their last rites. This book records the order of service and the eulogy along with separate obituaries and engraved portraits of six individuals. The broadside lists the names of all the souls remembered in the funeral service. A deeply moving testimonial printed by the brilliant community activist, doctor, and artist, who studied with Leonard Baskin to achieve mastery of type and print. The book is beautifully printed on hand-made paper. See shirleywhitaker.com for more on this astonishing production. Item #110766
