§ First edition, number 99 of 300 copies. A scarce, early short story by Faulkner, with a preface by Henry Nash Smith, and later reprinted in Uncollected Stories of William Faulkner. In Miss Zilphia Gant, which while published in 1932 was actually written in 1928, Faulkner introduces themes of violence, repressed sexuality, revenge, and isolation, that will recur throughout his career, especially in A Rose for Emily, and Dry September (Critical Companion to William Faulkner, By A.
