Gulliver in Brobdingnag.

London: Westminster/ARTIA/Bancroft & Co. Ltd., n. d. (circa 1958). Tall 4to., [20] pp., oval cut-out cellophane window-pane on upper board through which can be seen a small pop-up of Gulliver. Inside a woman and a girl are depicted watching him pop up from a little cart. Inside the lower board is another two-page pop-up of a large eagle swooping down to take Gulliver in a small gold casket on the shore. Three full page colored illustrations and 15 smaller ones in the 15 pages of text. Mylar jacket. Bound in color-printed pictorial paper boards with pink cloth backstrip. Corners slightly bumped; very good. Early English translation of the first edition. Less common for a Kuba ta book to have two pop-ups and illustrations in text. Bancroft, owned by a Czech refugee from the Nazis, was the first Western publisher to market Kuba ta’s books. Kuba ta, relatively unknown in his time, illustrated and designed over 300 books.
