London: F. Pitman, [n.d.]
Folio, pp. of printed music. Original plain brown wrappers with manuscript label and printed note on upper cover. Enclosed in a modern green quarter morocco slipcase.
§ Sheet music embellished with pen-and-ink drawings by Cruikshank on pp. 1, 3, 4, and 8. He seems to have used this as a sketch pad with a fairly elaborate drawing on the title-page, three small sketches on p. 3, about 8 hasty sketches around the margins of p. 4, and 24 or so quick drawings of heads. On the upper cover the manuscript label states: “No. 13 [crossed out] 3283 [added in a later hand] Cruikshank’s rough design for music plate - authentic”. At the top is a printed label, possibly a press or auction clipping, that reads: “George Cruikshank. Original sketches etc. The following scraps are of the greatest interest...” Loosely inserted is a printed portrait of Cruikshank signed in ink. Not found in the Flühmann catalogue. Item #106217
