§ A fine and rare example of a contemporary letter portrait of Elizabeth I, at the age of 42. The document grants the Manor of Northaw and other lands in Hertfordshire to Ambrose Dudley, Earl of Warwick, in exchange for the Manor of Rosedale Priory transferred to the Crown. Auction records show 10 such portraits selling between 1987 and 1997, none since. The old description seems to originate from Maggs. Item #106067
