Boston: Redding & Co, 1848. Slim 8vo, 16pp., frontispiece engraving, large folding panoramic view at the back very browned, worn, hinges split, a rather worn but complete copy in original printed gray boards, cloth backstrip. Interesting association copy. First edition, the boards issue (also found in cloth). Fine association copy inscribed: “Anson Jones from Mr. Bigelow Mayor of Boston Dec. 18th 1850”. The ink has bled through the page. At the back is another inscription, by Jones’s son: “Anson Jones, my father then in his 20th year, was among those who went to Boston in 1775 and took part in the memorable defense of Bunker’s Hill (sic). About 61 years thereafter his son, the writer of this note, took part in the defense of Texas at San Jacinto. Solomon Jones served five of the seven years of the Revolutionary War. In 1813 I volunteered to go to the defense of Boston, being them in my fifteenth year, but my father prevented my going. Boston Dec. 1850”. Item #110811
