Original cream dust-jacket printed in red. Handwritten letter from the publisher to Mary Owings Miller laid in. Endpapers toned where letter was laid in, dust-jacket with light edgewear and some worming. First edition, signed by the author on the front free endpaper. Gogarty was an Irish poet, politician, and pilot, among many other things. He was the inspiration for Buck Mulligan in James Joyce's Ulysses. The letter laid in is addressed to Mrs [Mary] Owings Miller, who for 30 years was the editor and publisher of the Contemporary Poetry. The letter, signed “Duell, Sloan and Pearce” asks her to confirm a quotation by John Masefield on Gogarty. Item #110490
