Vols. 1 and 2 of 4 vols. 8vo: (8), 344; (8), 335 pp. woodcut design to title pages and final leaves, pages untrimmed. Half green morocco over green pebbled cloth, backstrips richly gilt with gilt-stamped red morocco labels. Bindings somewhat scuffed and tips bumped, but still quite handsome, foxing to front matter and text block edges. Good.

§ Fifth Edition. Morris’s third book and one of his most successful. A verse epic in which medieval Norsemen in search of paradise discover a city where the Greek gods are still worshipped. Twice a month the travellers and their hosts exchange tales of Classical mythology and medieval legends and sagas.
