Folio (15 x 19.75 ins.), 24 color lithograph plates accented in gold, with one page of text with a price list, and title page. Quarter blue cloth portfolio, with paper boards, color lithograph to upper board with title printed in black, and purple cloth ties. Backstrip is frayed, paper boards are slightly rubbed and chipped at the corners, the plates are bright and overall this is a very good copy.
§ A scarce and remarkable portfolio of Art Nouveau designs for decorating walls and ceilings. Plates range from one to four panels, mostly with nature inspired designs with both hard lines and sinuous curves, some with animals, figures, harmonious typography, and scenic views incorporated. The soft color palette and gilt accents make these plates especially pleasing. The price list indicates that plates could be purchased separately, or as a set, in two different formats. A fine example of German Art Nouveau or Jugendstil, applied to interior design. Item #108259
